Hoodland Clinic Welcomes New Primary Care Provider Sara Carey, FNP-C
The Hoodland Clinic has officially announced the addition of Sara Carey, FNP-C, to its medical team as the newest primary care provider in Welches. Sara brings more than 15 years of diverse healthcare experience to the mountain community, with a professional background deeply rooted in emergency medicine, and public health.
Sara's journey in medicine spans multiple clinical environments. She spent the last 10 years working in emergency departments across the Portland metro area, and also gained extensive clinical experience working in advanced heart failure, and post-anesthesia care (PACU).
In addition to her clinical nursing skills, Sara holds a bachelor’s degree in Public Health and a master’s degree in Nursing. This dual background heavily influences her philosophical approach to medicine, which emphasizes preventative care, disease prevention, and long-term wellness.
“My approach to care is partnership in health management that focuses on whole person health and wellness,” Sara said.
As a primary care provider, Sara’s clinical interests include family care, chronic care management, community health, and women’s health. She looks forward to utilizing her public health background to address the unique wellness needs of local patients, focusing on treating the individual rather than just the symptoms.

Sara grew up in Beaverton, Oregon and briefly relocated to Las Vegas to complete her nursing program and begin her first job as a registered nurse. Today, she lives in Sandy with her husband and new baby. Sara is proud to be a true neighbor to her patients and part of the Hoodland community.
When she is not treating patients at the Hoodland Clinic, Sara embraces the classic outdoor lifestyle of the Pacific Northwest. She is an avid skier, backpacker, and surfer, and she also enjoys baking at home. Her household includes a lively mix of pets, including two cats named Meredith and Cristina, and an Australian cattle dog named Willow.
