The Best of Both Worlds: Transition to Self-Management

In recent months, our clinic has transitioned to self-management. While this has meant we take on more responsibilities, we have more autonomy to make decisions on our own based on what will help us deliver the best care for our patients and the community.

With this, decisions are made faster, allowing us to make changes without the need for extra approvals. For example, one of the many changes so far has been updating our pediatric room, making it a warm inviting space filled with helpful resources for parents and kids alike!

By being part of Orchid Health, we can tap into our back-office team for administrative tasks like billing and referrals and receive support during challenging times.

It’s the best of both worlds! Self-management backed by a strong home office.

Hi, I'm Jill and I'm an Orchid Patient

A Decade with Orchid: My Patient Testimony

Ten years ago, I had just officially become a senior and was starting to get worried about continuing to live here after 8 years due to the drive on 58 particularly for health care. At the time I had a few health issues and could squeeze in a doctor’s appointment while going to the valley for other reasons, but it was starting to become harder.

There was a clinic in town, but they were not at the time accepting new clients. So, that summer I heard and read a new health clinic was opening on the highway and then saw they were open and recruiting members. I went down and walked in and was greeted by a whole host of friendly, smiling, people ready to sign me up. I answered all the questions, asked many and signed up and have not once regretted it.

They have had their trials and tribulations over the years with clinicians coming and going and other things but have never stopped delivering. I am on my third PCP there due to some turnover but not a beat was missed. In 2017 I was diagnosed with a “thing” and so it began, my slinking and sliding into elderhood and since then have had a few more “things”. I developed a bit of anxiety over some of it and have been helped through some crisis with loving care.

I am a widow and live alone and I am so very grateful to the staff at Orchid that is genuinely always there when needed. I am always given referrals to appropriate specialties and listened to about all my concerns. I cannot commend them enough nor thank them enough for the care they provide. We are so fortunate to have such quality health care here in Oakridge. Thank you for being here!
